We, as a society, spend more time than I think is necessarily productive reading and discussing the hook ups and break ups of celebrities. And when it comes to the break up, we seem to have an insatiable appetite to know what went wrong? Did she cheat? Did he? Who exactly was that “third person” in their marriage?

Recently, a certain actress has been getting a lot of attention regarding the mutual end of her marriage. The twist in this story is that there wasn’t one but two extra people in her marital bed: her children.

While it’s certainly not abnormal for celebrities to issue statements when a split happens, it certainly is unique to issue a statement denying that your parenting style caused the demise of a marriage.

“The hands-on style of parenting we practice played no role in the changes that led to this decision; relationships are complicated no matter what style of parenting you choose,” Bialik wrote in a post on her parenting blog.

My name is Jodie. I'm a 38 year old Canadian working and living in Bangkok, Thailand. My husband and I are both international teachers - though I'm taking this year off to be a full-time mom.
