Hi Doctor. I’ve got some acne on my face so i want to know the reason why the acne appeared on my face and how to treat it? Thank you.

There are a number of reasons for the acnes which aren’t all linked to hormones. Here are some reasons:

Cosmetics

Avoid using cosmetics that cause acne. While washing your face, gently use clear water. Rubbing your face vigorously can cause inflammation. If you have oily skin, use soap or facial foam that suits your skin.

Female Hormones

The causes can range from stress to menstruation and tend to give you spots around the jaw line. When the hormone balance changes, more sebum (oil) will be produced, causing more pimples. Contraceptive pills can help treat the condition but do have the obvious major side effect of preventing you from having children (along with others). It’s essential that you talk to a doctor and get their recommendation before going down this route. A less drastic solution is to try working out, which can release stress and help balance your hormones naturally. If your hormone imbalance is already treated with hormone pills, you need to consult with your doctor.

Bad Genes

Men are luckier—they don’t suffer from hormonal acne. If they still suffer from acne, it can be genetic (you have spotty parents) or hygiene (you should clean your face better). But even these forms of acne should disappear when you reach 35-40.

Allergies

You may also be suffering from some kind of food allergy—very sweet or very oily foods, for example. We suggest trying to change your diet and see if that gets rid of the pimples.

If you have acne, do not squeeze or pick at the lesion to avoid further acne formation. There are several treatments for acne available nowadays. In addition to applying medication on the acne, laser treatment is also used whereby steroids are injected into the acne to reduce inflammation, providing quick results. The use of cold treatment is also used to treat acne. Liquid nitrogen creates the cold. You can use any form of treatment available, but please do not buy oral or cream-based medications on your own before consulting a dermatologist.

Acne usually occurs on the face, shoulder, back and chest. However, it is most prominent on the face. Most people prefer to treat acne at various clinics recommended by friends. However, you must be selective as some people’s acne condition has worsened instead of improving. Each person’s skin is different so you should consult your dermatologist to prescribe a suitable treatment for you. You should also look after your facial and body skin well to keep it healthy looking.
