6-8 Screening for complications that may occur at the early stage of pregnancy, such as blighted ovum, ectopic pregnancy, molar pregnancy, and multiple pregnancy, as well as to confirm the age of the pregnancy Abdominal ultrasound

12 Confirmation of pregnancy age and calculation of the delivery date; Down syndrome screening Blood test and abdominal ultrasound;
16 Down syndrome screening; Diagnosis of down syndrome (looking for abnormalities of chromosomes) Blood test and abdominal ultrasound; Amniocentesis
20 Primary screening for abnormalities of the body structure Abdominal ultrasound
24 Screening for diabetes during the pregnancy Intake of glucose (50 grams) and blood test
24-28 Looking for abnormalities of the heart and other bodily functions including:

  1. the head to look for abnormalities of the brain as well as cleft lip and cleft palate
  2. the spine and abdomen to evaluate the arrangement of the internal organs
  3. the kidney and the urinary bladder
  4. both hands and feet
  5. the placenta, umbilical cord and amniotic fluid
  6. measuring the side of the head, abdomen and femur to evaluate the development of the fetus
Abdominal ultrasound performed by a doctor specializing in maternal-fetal medicine
24-28 Confirmation of diabetes during the pregnancy (in case the screening of the mother was positive) Intake of glucose (100 grams) and four blood tests (every hour)
30 Pregnancy examination, evaluation of the movements of the fetus (fetal movement count)
32 Pregnancy examination, observation of compression of the uterus and preterm labor
34 Pregnancy examination, observation of compression of the uterus and preterm labor
36-37 Evaluation of the condition and position of the placenta, the amniotic fluid volume, the circulation of blood in the umbilical cord, the development of the fetus, the position of the fetus, and which part of the fetus will come out first. Abdominal ultrasound (in certain cases,  an ultrasound of the vagina may need to be performed)
38-39 Evaluation of the cervix and the path towards the vagina Pelvic examination
40 Re-evaluation of the condition and position of the placenta, the amniotic fluid volume , the circulation of blood in the umbilical cord, the development of the fetus, the position of the fetus, and which part of the fetus will come out first; Check-up of the fetus; Re-evaluation of the cervix and the path towards the vagina Abdominal ultrasound (in certain cases,  an ultrasound of the vagina may need to be performed); Non-stress test (NST) to measure fetus heart rate and movement; Pelvic examination
